How to Create an Instagram Business Profile
Overview
To use Social Cascade for Instagram publishing and analytics, your organization needs an Instagram Business account (professional account set to Business). Linking to a Facebook Page is strongly recommended and often required for full publishing features. This guide explains creating a new account or converting an existing personal profile.
Before You Start
- Install the Instagram app on iOS or Android (recommended for setup).
- Use a professional email or phone your team controls.
- If you already have a Facebook Page for your organization, have access to manage it—you may link Instagram to it during setup.
Step 1: Create a Personal Instagram Account (if needed)
Professional accounts start from a standard profile. If you do not have an account yet:
- Download Instagram from the App Store or Google Play.
- Tap Sign up and use your organization email or phone.
- Choose a recognizable username and a strong password.
Step 2: Switch to a Professional Account
- Open Instagram and go to your profile.
- Open the menu (three lines), then Settings and privacy.
- Open Account type and tools (or similar), then Switch to professional account.
- Follow the prompts.
Step 3: Choose Business
When asked, pick Business (best for organizations and practices). Creator accounts are aimed at individuals and creators; Social Cascade expects a professional setup aligned with Business tools.
Step 4: Complete Profile and Link Facebook Page
- Choose a category for your organization.
- Add contact details as appropriate.
- Connect a Facebook Page when prompted—this unlocks professional publishing paths used by third-party tools.
After Setup
- Finish your bio (character limit applies) and add your website.
- Add a clear profile photo (often your logo).
- In Social Cascade, connect Instagram under Team Settings using an account that manages this profile.
