How to Regain Access to Your Facebook Page

Losing access to your organization's Facebook Page can be stressful, whether it was due to a former employee, a hacked account, or an accidental self-removal. Here is a guide to help you regain control.

Scenario 1: A Current Admin Can Still Help

This is the fastest and easiest way to regain access. If another person in your organization still has Admin access to the Page, they can simply add you back.

Step-by-step instructions for the existing Admin to re-add you:

  1. Navigate to the Facebook Page and go to the Professional Dashboard.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click on Page Access.
  3. Under "People with Facebook access," click the Add New button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to search for your name or email and assign the Admin role.
  5. Enter their Facebook password to confirm the change.

You will receive a notification inviting you to manage the Page. Once you accept, you will have Admin access again.

Scenario 2: No One Has Admin Access to the Page

This is a more complex situation that requires you to submit a formal request to Facebook. You will need to prove that your organization owns the Page.

Step 1: Secure Your Personal Profile

If you suspect your personal account was hacked, you must secure it first. Go to facebook.com/hacked and follow the recovery steps. You cannot regain Page access if your own profile is compromised.

Step 2: Submit a Formal Page Admin Dispute

This is the official process for recovering a Page when you have been locked out. You will be required to submit documentation to prove ownership.

What you will likely need:

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license, passport).
  • Official business documents that show your name and the organization's name (e.g., articles of incorporation, business license, utility bill).
  • A signed statement explaining your relationship to the organization and why you need access to the Page. This statement should include a declaration that the information is true and accurate.
  • The Page's URL or ID.

How to start the dispute process:

You may be able to file the dispute directly through the Meta Business Help Center. Look for a "Still Need Help?" button or a link to chat with a support representative. Explain that you need to file an "Admin Dispute."

Scenario 3: Your Page is in a Business Manager Account

If your organization uses Facebook Business Manager, the process can sometimes be different. If you have admin access to the Business Manager account, you can add yourself as an Admin to the Page, even if you were removed from the Page's roles directly.

  1. Go to business.facebook.com/settings.
  2. In the left menu, click Accounts and then Pages.
  3. Select the Page you want to regain access to.
  4. Click the Add People button and re-assign yourself the Admin role.
