Customizing Post Frequency

Social Cascade gives you two ways to keep your calendar full: auto-scheduling, which automatically drops the right content into the right slots each week, and manual scheduling, where you control every post and (optionally) get a reminder email if your week is empty. This article walks through both modes and the new settings shipped in the Team Settings page.

How to Navigate

  • Click your avatar in the top-right header, then select Account.
  • Open the Team Settings tab.
  • Scroll to the Post Frequency panel.

The Post Frequency panel is per team. If your organization has multiple teams, switch teams from the team selector in the header before changing settings.

Auto-schedule (the toggle at the top)

The Auto-schedule switch is the first control in the Post Frequency panel.

  • On (toggle right): Social Cascade will automatically schedule content into the day/time slots you set in the grid below the toggle. The grid only appears when auto-schedule is on.
  • Off (toggle left): Nothing is auto-scheduled. You manually pick what to publish from the Calendar. When auto-schedule is off, the panel shows the helper text "You control your calendar. Use our recommendations to quickly pick the best content for each day."

Only Editors and Admins can flip the auto-schedule toggle. Viewers will see it greyed out.

Setting Your Auto-schedule Times

When auto-schedule is on, a grid appears with one row per connected social profile and one column per day of the week. Each cell is a clickable button that opens a modal with three options:

  • Off — No post will be scheduled for that day.
  • Auto — A post will be scheduled at the time the content is released, without a specific time set by you.
  • Select Time — Pick a specific hour and minute. The displayed time uses your locale's 12- or 24-hour format.

Times are evaluated in your team's timezone. The panel shows your current timezone below the grid (it falls back to your organization's timezone, then to EST). If the displayed timezone is wrong, update the address on the team or organization in Account Settings.

Replicate Posts Across Platforms

If your team is connected to platforms that support replication, a Replicate posts across platforms checkbox appears under the auto-schedule toggle. Turning this on lets a single piece of content be scheduled to multiple connected platforms at once. The checkbox is hidden when only one platform is connected or the connected platforms don't support replication.

Notify if no posts scheduled (manual scheduling only)

When auto-schedule is off, you'll see a second toggle: Notify if no posts scheduled. This is the new opt-in reminder email shipped with the manual-scheduling workflow.

  • What it does: If your team has no posts scheduled for the upcoming 7 days, all Admins on the team will receive a reminder email with a link back to the Calendar.
  • When it runs: The check runs once a week on the day of the week you choose. Pick the day from the Notify on dropdown that appears when the toggle is on (defaults to Sunday).
  • Who gets the email: Only team members with the Admin role. Editors and Viewers are not emailed.
  • De-duplication: Each team will receive at most one no-posts-scheduled email per 24-hour window, even if the cron retries.

The reminder is mutually exclusive with auto-schedule — turning auto-schedule on hides the notify toggle (because auto-schedule already keeps your calendar full).

Understanding the Schedule Grid (auto-schedule on)

The Post Frequency grid displays days of the week as columns and one row per connected social profile.

  • Off: The cell shows "Off" — no post will be scheduled.
  • Auto: The cell shows "Auto" — a post will be added at the time content is released, no fixed time.
  • Specific time: The cell shows the time in your locale's format (e.g., 9:00am or 09:00) — a post will be scheduled at that exact time on that day.

Click any cell to change the value. Changes save when you confirm in the modal.

TikTok and Post Frequency

TikTok posts are not included in auto-scheduling. In the Post Frequency grid, TikTok will always show as "Off" for every day — this is by design, not an error.

Because TikTok only supports video content, it is not compatible with the automatic content scheduling system used for Facebook and Instagram. Instead, TikTok videos must be scheduled manually:

  • From the Calendar in the web app, or
  • From the Teleprompter mobile app when publishing a recorded video.

Clicking on a TikTok row in the Post Frequency grid will show a message explaining that TikTok scheduling is manual-only.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Fix
The Auto-schedule toggle is greyed out You're signed in as a Viewer, or another setting save is in flight. Ask a Team Admin or Editor to flip the toggle. If you have permission, wait a moment and try again.
I turned auto-schedule on but no posts appeared on the calendar Every day is set to Off, or no eligible content exists in your library/streams for the selected slots. Open the grid and set at least one slot to Auto or a specific time, and confirm you have content in Streams > My Content or your team library.
Auto-schedule times look an hour off The team or organization timezone is not set correctly. Edit the team's or organization's address in Account Settings — the timezone is derived from the address. The Post Frequency panel shows the timezone it is using.
I'm not getting the "no posts scheduled" reminder Auto-schedule is on (which suppresses the reminder), the toggle is off, you don't have an Admin role, your team has at least one scheduled post in the next 7 days, or a reminder was already sent in the last 24 hours. Confirm auto-schedule is off and the Notify toggle is on, that you're an Admin on the team, and that the upcoming week is genuinely empty. The next check runs on the day of the week you've chosen.
The Replicate posts across platforms checkbox is missing Only platforms that support replication will show this option (currently Facebook and Instagram), and at least two compatible platforms must be connected. Connect a second compatible social profile in Account > Team Settings > Social Profiles.

FAQ

Q: If I switch from auto-schedule to manual, will my existing scheduled posts disappear?

A: No. Already-scheduled posts remain on the Calendar exactly as they are. Only future auto-scheduling stops.

Q: Can I be notified daily instead of weekly when no posts are scheduled?

A: Not currently — the reminder runs once a week on the day you choose.

Q: Can I forward the no-posts-scheduled reminder to a team member who isn't an Admin?

A: The email is sent only to Admins. To make sure a teammate gets it directly, change their team role to Admin in Team Settings > Team Members.

Q: Does the reminder count empty drafts or unscheduled content?

A: No. The reminder triggers only when there are zero scheduled posts in the upcoming 7 days. Drafts and items still in review do not count.
