Understanding Weighted Engagement Rate (WERR)

Overview

Weighted Engagement Rate (WERR) is an advanced engagement metric that assigns different weights to different types of interactions. Unlike standard engagement rate, which treats every like, comment, share, and save equally, WERR recognizes that a comment or share represents a deeper level of audience investment than a quick like.

How It Is Calculated

WERR uses a weighted formula where each interaction type is multiplied by a weight reflecting its value:

  • Likes — 1× (baseline)
  • Comments — 3× (indicates active conversation)
  • Shares — 4× (extends reach to new audiences)
  • Saves — 2× (signals content worth revisiting)
  • Clicks — 2× (indicates interest beyond the feed)

The weighted total is divided by reach to produce the rate.

Where to Find It

  1. Go to your Analytics page from the left sidebar.
  2. The WERR cards appear in the Reach and Engagement section (Pro plan).
  3. Cards show both the combined rate and per-platform breakdown.

Why WERR Matters

Standard engagement rate can be inflated by large numbers of passive likes. WERR gives you a clearer picture of how meaningfully your audience is engaging. A post with fewer total interactions but many comments and shares may have a higher WERR than a post with many likes — and that higher WERR often correlates with better long-term growth.
