Using Benchmarks to Track Your Progress
Overview
Benchmarks let you compare your analytics metrics against meaningful reference points — your own historical performance, similar practices in your specialty, and published industry averages. Instead of wondering whether a 2.5% engagement rate is good, benchmarks give you context.
Before You Start
- Benchmarks are available on the Pro plan and above.
- Your account needs at least 30 days of analytics data for your own historical benchmarks to populate.
Types of Benchmarks
| Benchmark | What It Compares |
|---|---|
| Your History | Your current period metrics vs your own trailing average. Shows whether you are improving over time. |
| Similar Practices | Anonymized, aggregated performance of practices with a similar specialty, audience size, and posting frequency. |
| Industry Average | Published cross-industry social media averages for healthcare organizations. |
Where to Find Benchmarks
- Go to your Analytics page from the left sidebar.
- Scroll to the Benchmarking section.
- Benchmark panels show how your reach, engagement rate, and SAR compare to each reference point.
How to Use Benchmarks
- Beating your history? Your content strategy is improving — keep doing what is working.
- Below similar practices? Study what content types and posting frequencies are common in your specialty and experiment with similar approaches.
- Above industry average? You are outperforming the broader market — a great signal that your content resonates.
FAQ
Q: How often are benchmarks updated?
A: Your historical benchmark updates every time you load Analytics. Similar-practice and industry benchmarks refresh weekly.
Q: Is my data shared with other practices?
A: No individual data is ever shared. Similar-practice benchmarks are aggregated and anonymized. No practice can see another practice's data.
