Creating a YouTube Channel for Shorts
Overview
Social Cascade publishes YouTube Shorts to a YouTube channel you control. Today, Shorts publishing is built around recording in the Social Cascade Teleprompter app—set up your channel here first, then connect Social Cascade and publish from the app. Before connecting YouTube in Social Cascade, you need a Google account and a YouTube channel. This guide walks through creating that foundation.
Before You Start
- A Google account (Workspace or Gmail) that your organization approves for managing YouTube.
- Permission to act as channel owner or manager for that channel.
- Basic branding ready (channel name, logo) if you want a polished presence.
How to Create a YouTube Channel
- Sign in to YouTube at youtube.com with the Google account that should own the channel.
- Select your profile icon, then Create a channel (wording may vary slightly).
- Choose whether you are creating the channel as yourself or as a brand / organization—pick the option that matches how your practice appears publicly.
- Follow the prompts to name the channel and finish setup.
- Optional but recommended: open YouTube Studio and complete basics—profile image, banner, and channel description.
Shorts Readiness
Shorts appear when you upload vertical short videos; Social Cascade sends Shorts using the Shorts publishing path. Ensure your channel can upload videos (no policy blocks on new channels).
Next Step
After your channel exists, connect YouTube in Social Cascade Team Settings. Record Shorts in Social Cascade Teleprompter, then publish or schedule to YouTube. See Connecting Your YouTube Channel to Social Cascade and Scheduling and Publishing YouTube Shorts.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to try |
|---|---|
| I do not see Create a channel | The Google account may already have a channel—open YouTube Studio > Settings > Channel. |
| Wrong Google account | Sign out of Google completely, then sign in with the intended organizational account before connecting Social Cascade. |
