Working with Streams

Streams are curated content collections from trusted organizations. Subscribe to topics that matter to your practice and the content flows into your Calendar and Scheduled Posts automatically.

How to view streams you've subscribed to

There are two ways to see the streams you've already selected:

Option 1 — Filter the Streams page

  1. Click Streams in the left sidebar.
  2. On the Available Streams page, find the Subscription dropdown in the filter bar near the top.
  3. Select Subscribed. The list updates to show only partners and topics your team is subscribed to.

Option 2 — Check the Calendar

  1. Click Calendar in the left sidebar.
  2. Open the content drawer (click Content Calendar if it isn't already open).
  3. Select the Subscriptions tab. This shows all content from the streams your team has subscribed to, organized by partner.
  4. Click a partner name to drill into a specific topic and browse individual posts.

You can also visit My Streams (at the top of any Streams page) to see your subscribed topics at a glance.

How to navigate to Streams

  • Desktop: Click Streams in the left sidebar.
  • Mobile web: Open the sidebar from the header, then tap Streams.

At the top of Streams pages you'll see links to sub-sections: Available Streams, My Streams, My Content, and My Media.

Available Streams

  • Search: Use the search box at the top to find an organization or topic by name (e.g., "Mental Health", "CDC"). Results update as you type.
  • Organization list: Each partner shows its name, description, and a "Topics" section with subscribable tiles.
  • New badge: A small New badge appears when a partner or topic has recently added content.

Filters and sort

Above the partner list you'll see a row of filter and sort controls. Filters are reflected in the page URL, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.

  • Sort — Pick how the list is ordered:
    • Recommended (default) — Tailored to your team based on subscriptions and activity.
    • A–Z — Alphabetical by organization name.
    • Newest — Most recently added partners first.
    • Most subscribed — Partners with the most Social Cascade teams subscribed.
  • Subscription — Filter by your team's subscription status:
    • All (default), Subscribed, or Not subscribed.
  • Topics — Open the Topics popover to narrow the list to partners that publish specific topics.
  • Org type — Pick one or more organization types (e.g., government, advocacy, professional society).
  • Clear filters — When any filter is active, a Clear filters link appears. Click it to reset Subscription, Topics, and Org type (Sort stays where you set it).

Follow vs. subscribe

  • Follow an organization: Adds all of that partner's current topics and auto-adds any future topics as they're released.
  • Unfollow an organization: Stops auto-adding future topics. Your existing topic subscriptions stay as they are.
  • Subscribe to a topic: Adds just that single topic to your team.
  • Unsubscribe from a topic: Removes just that topic. Other topics remain.

Following an organization

  1. Go to Streams in the sidebar and find the partner you want.
  2. Click Follow (to the right of the organization name). It changes to Followed.
  3. To unfollow, click Followed to open a confirmation dialog, then confirm Unfollow.

Subscribing to topics

From the partner card (quick)

In the partner's "Topics" grid, click the small round icon on a topic tile. An empty circle means not subscribed; a checkmark means subscribed.

From the topic detail (detailed)

  1. Click a topic tile to open the detail view.
  2. Use the Subscribe / Subscribed button at the top to toggle.
  3. Scroll down to see other topics from the same partner and manage those subscriptions too.

Who can subscribe: Only team Admins and Editors can manage stream subscriptions. Viewers see a read-only view.

Viewing topic content

  1. Click a topic tile to open the detail view.
  2. Browse the media preview carousel, caption, and supported platform icons.
  3. Scroll down to see additional topics from the same partner.

Streams in the Calendar

Content from your subscribed streams appears in two places on the Calendar:

  • Subscriptions tab: Open the Calendar content drawer and select Subscriptions. You'll see an accordion of partners — expand one to browse topics and individual posts. Use the search bar (type at least three characters) to find specific content across all subscribed streams.
  • Add Content dialog: When adding content to a calendar day, you'll see a Recommended section with suggested posts from subscribed streams, plus a Collections panel listing each partner and topic individually.

My Streams, My Content, My Media

  • My Streams: Shows only the topics your team is currently subscribed to.
  • My Content: Browse content your team has created or saved for reuse.
  • My Media: Access your team's uploaded media library.

Private streams

Some streams are created specifically for your organization. These are managed by your organization and may not show Follow/Subscribe controls.

Tips

  • Find your subscriptions fast: On the Streams page, set the Subscription filter to Subscribed to see only the partners and topics you've selected.
  • Combine filters with sort: Try Subscribed + Newest to see fresh content from partners you already follow, or Not subscribed + Most subscribed to discover popular partners you haven't added yet.
  • Manage in bulk: Follow an entire organization to auto-subscribe to all topics; prune any you don't want by unsubscribing individual topics.
  • Check the Calendar: Subscribed content appears on your Calendar under the Subscriptions tab — open the content drawer to browse and schedule.
