Managing Your Takes

Overview

Every time you record a video, the app saves it as a take. The Recordings screen is where you browse, preview, and manage all takes for a given script before turning one into a post.

Before You Start

  • You need at least one recorded take. If you haven’t recorded yet, open a script and tap Record Video.
  • Takes are stored on your device. Uploaded or posted takes also have a server copy, but the local file is what you see here.

How to view and preview takes

  1. From a script, tap View All Recordings (or Recordings in the header).
  2. You’ll see a list of all takes for that script, sorted by most recent. Each card shows the take name, duration, and when it was recorded.
  3. Tap a take to open the video preview. The preview shows:
    • A playback player with controls.
    • Duration and recording date.
    • A ✓ Uploaded label if the take has been sent to the server.
    • A ✓ Posted label if a post has already been created from this take.
  4. Tap the (close) button above the preview to return to the list.

No-audio warning

If a take was recorded without microphone access (or the audio track is missing), you’ll see an orange banner: “This take has no audio. Captions will not be available when you create a post.” To fix this, re-record with microphone permission enabled in your device Settings.

How to create a post from a take

  1. Select a take to open the preview.
  2. Tap Create Post below the video info.
  3. You’ll be taken to the Post Draft screen to add a caption, hashtags, and choose platforms. See Creating and Submitting a Post for details.

How to delete a take

  1. In the takes list, swipe a take card to the left.
  2. Tap the delete action that appears.
  3. Confirm in the dialog. The confirmation message depends on the take’s status:
    • Local only: “This recording will be permanently removed.”
    • Uploaded: “This will remove the local recording from your device. The uploaded copy on the server will not be affected.”
    • Posted: “This take has been posted. Deleting it will remove the local copy from your device, but the post will remain live.”

Other actions

  • Pull to refresh to reload the list.
  • If no takes exist yet, tap Record in the empty-state prompt to go directly to the camera.

FAQ

Q: Does deleting a take remove my published post?

A: No. Deleting only removes the local recording from your device. Any posts already published will stay live.

Q: How many takes can I have per script?

A: There is no hard limit. Record as many takes as you need to get the right one.
