Choosing Your Practice Focus

Overview

Your practice focus tells Social Cascade what kind of medicine your team practices so we can recommend relevant content streams, generate appropriate scripts, and tailor preview text in places like the Calendar and Poster Preview. You set this during onboarding and can change it any time from the setup flow.

Before You Start

  • You must be an Editor or Admin on the team to change the practice focus.
  • You can pick more than one focus — for example, a clinic that handles both adult and pediatric medicine can select both.
  • Changing the focus does not delete or reschedule any content you have already created. It changes which content we recommend going forward.

Social Cascade currently supports the following practice focuses:

How to Set or Change Your Practice Focus

There are two places to set your practice focus:

During onboarding (Setup flow)

  1. Go to your team's Setup page (you are taken here automatically during initial onboarding).
  2. On the Select your focus(es) step, check every focus that applies to your team. You can select more than one.
  3. Click Next. Your selection is saved immediately.

From Brand Kit settings

You can also change your practice focus at any time from Settings > Brand Kit. Team Admins see a Practice Focus section with a checkbox grid of all available specialties.

  1. Open Account Settings from your avatar menu.
  2. Select Brand Kit in the left sidebar.
  3. Scroll to the Practice Focus section.
  4. Check or uncheck specialties as needed. You must keep at least one selected.
  5. Click Save changes.

Note: If you remove a focus area, a warning explains that scripts and content available to your team may be reduced. Already-scheduled posts are not affected — only future recommendations and AI generation reflect the change.

Non-admin team members can view the currently selected specialties in Brand Kit but cannot edit them.

Where Your Practice Focus Shows Up

  • Streams: The catalog of organizations and topics is filtered to surface content most relevant to your specialties first.
  • Scripts & teleprompter: AI-generated scripts use your focus as context so the language and clinical examples match your audience.
  • Calendar & Poster Preview: Where we show sample content for your team, the displayed examples use your focus to choose the most appropriate variant.
  • Recommendations & weekly digests: Suggested content and emails are tuned to your selected focuses.
  • Brand Kit settings: Your selected specialties appear in the Practice Focus section of Brand Kit, where team Admins can review and update them.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Fix
The Next button shows a spinner that never finishes Network connection dropped while saving. Reload the page and try again. Your selection is only saved when you click Next.
I see a Failed to save preferences toast The save request was rejected (often a permissions issue). Confirm you are an Editor or Admin on this team. If you still see the error, contact support with your team name.
My specialty is not in the list We have not added that focus yet. Pick the closest match (for example, choose Internal Medicine for general adult medicine) and email support@socialcascade.co with your specialty name so we can prioritize adding it.
Older content references a focus we no longer practice Existing posts and scripts are not retroactively re-tagged. Delete or unschedule the older content; new generations will use the updated focus.

FAQ

Q: Can I select more than one focus?

A: Yes. Many practices fit multiple categories (for example, Family Medicine + Pediatrics). Select every option that fits and Social Cascade will surface content for all of them.

Q: Will this change content that’s already scheduled?

A: No. Already-scheduled posts keep their existing content. Only newly generated scripts, stream recommendations, and AI suggestions reflect the new focus.

Q: Is the practice focus visible to anyone outside my organization?

A: No. It is only used internally to tailor content recommendations and AI generation for your team.

Q: What is the difference between the Setup flow and Brand Kit settings?

A: Both let you pick your practice specialties. The Setup flow walks you through onboarding step by step, while Brand Kit settings is always available for team Admins to update. Changes in either place take effect immediately for future content.

Q: I’m a veterinarian / dentist — will the medical specialties confuse the AI?

A: No. The AI generation pipeline reads only the focuses you select, so a Veterinarian-only or Dentistry-only team will receive content tuned to that field.
