Troubleshooting YouTube Shorts
Overview
Use this list when YouTube Shorts fail to schedule or publish. Many errors come from media requirements, timing, or account connection—not from your caption text alone.
These checks assume you are publishing Shorts through Social Cascade Teleprompter, which is how Social Cascade today delivers YouTube Shorts.
Quick Checks
- YouTube is connected in Team Settings.
- The content includes a video suitable for YouTube and within the 3-minute Shorts window.
- The schedule is far enough in the future for video processing—when you use Post now or schedule for a very near time, Social Cascade now allows up to about 20 minutes for the file to render and upload before YouTube will accept it.
- Your Google / YouTube session is healthy—reconnect if you recently changed passwords. If your channel was auto-disconnected after a long error streak, see Why Your Social Account Was Automatically Disconnected.
Common Errors (Plain Language)
| What you might see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Title / name issues | Short title may be missing or invalid for YouTube. | Set a clear content name (title source) within typical length limits. |
| Video or media required | No video was attached for YouTube. | Add Short video media and retry. |
| Duration / too long | Video exceeds Shorts length allowed for scheduling. | Trim to within three minutes or split content. |
| Upload failed / processing | The publisher could not fetch or upload the file in time. | Schedule at least about 20 minutes ahead (more for large files), verify the media URL is reachable, and retry after reconnecting YouTube. |
| Post Now succeeded but the Short does not appear right away | Post Now schedules into a short processing window (up to ~20 minutes) so the video can render and upload to YouTube. | Wait the full processing window before retrying—watch the post's status in the calendar. |
