Content Type Breakdown in Analytics
Overview
The Content Type Breakdown shows how your published content is distributed across different formats — posts, reels, stories, and carousels. Understanding your content mix helps you see whether your publishing strategy aligns with what drives the most engagement for your audience.
Before You Start
- Content Type Breakdown is available on the Pro plan and above.
- You need at least a few published posts across different content types to see meaningful data.
Where to Find It
- Go to your Analytics page from the left sidebar.
- Scroll to the Content Performance section.
- The Content Mix chart shows the breakdown of your posts by type for the selected period.
How to Read the Chart
The donut chart shows each content type as a segment, sized by the number of posts of that type. The table below the chart shows engagement metrics per content type so you can compare performance.
| Content Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Post | A standard feed post — image or text-based. |
| Reel | Short-form video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, YouTube Shorts). |
| Story | Ephemeral content that disappears after 24 hours. |
| Carousel | Multi-image or multi-slide posts. |
Tips for Optimizing Your Content Mix
- Compare engagement rates by type. If reels consistently outperform posts in engagement rate, consider increasing your reel output.
- Look at SAR by type. Some content types may have lower reach but higher sustained attention — that is still a quality win.
- Balance variety with consistency. Audiences appreciate a mix, but don't spread yourself so thin that quality drops.
FAQ
Q: Why do I only see one or two content types?
A: The chart only shows types you have published in the selected period. Try expanding your date range or diversifying your content strategy.
