Troubleshooting TikTok Connections and Posts

Overview

This guide provides solutions to common issues you may encounter when connecting your TikTok account to Social Cascade or when publishing TikTok videos.

Connection Issues

"My TikTok account is not showing up"

If your TikTok account does not appear in the Social Profiles section after connecting:

  • Check your account type: TikTok requires a Business Account for third-party publishing. Personal and Creator accounts cannot be connected. See Setting Up a TikTok Business Account to switch.
  • Refresh your profiles: In the Social Profiles section, click the "Missing social profiles? Refresh" link in the footer.
  • Try a private browser window: Clear your cache or use an incognito/private window to rule out browser-related issues.
  • Re-authorize the connection: Go to your TikTok account settings, remove Social Cascade from authorized apps, then reconnect from Social Cascade and approve all permissions.

"I lost access to my connected TikTok account"

Your TikTok account may become unlinked if:

  • You changed your TikTok password.
  • TikTok revoked third-party app access due to a security event.
  • Your TikTok authorization token expired.

To reconnect, go to Account Settings > Social Profiles > + Add Profile > TikTok and re-authorize the connection.

Publishing Issues

"I cannot select TikTok for my post"

TikTok only supports video content. If TikTok is greyed out or disabled in the platform selector:

  • Make sure your content includes a video file.
  • Check that the video is in a supported format (MP4, MOV, or WebM).
  • Hover over the disabled TikTok toggle to see a tooltip explaining the issue.

"My TikTok post is stuck on Pending"

After publishing, TikTok processes your video before making it public. This typically takes 1 to 5 minutes.

  • Wait a few minutes: Video processing is normal. Do not resubmit the post.
  • Check after 30 minutes: If the post is still pending, TikTok may be experiencing delays. Wait and check again later.
  • After 24 hours: If the post remains pending, it likely failed silently. Delete the post and create a new one.

"My TikTok post failed"

Common reasons for TikTok post failures:

  • Video too long: TikTok supports videos up to 10 minutes. Trim your video and try again.
  • Caption too long: Captions are limited to 2,200 characters (approximately 2,080 after the required disclosure is appended).
  • Unsupported video format: Use MP4, MOV, or WebM.
  • Account permissions changed: Your TikTok authorization may have expired. Reconnect your TikTok account in Social Profiles.
  • TikTok community guidelines violation: TikTok may reject content that violates their Community Guidelines.

"TikTok shows Off in my Post Frequency settings"

This is expected behavior, not an error. TikTok posts cannot be auto-scheduled. The Post Frequency grid always shows "Off" for TikTok. Schedule TikTok posts manually from the Calendar or the Teleprompter mobile app.
