Troubleshooting Connections
If you're having trouble connecting a social media account to Social Cascade, this guide provides a list of common issues and how to solve them.
Common Issues and Solutions
1. "My profile isn't showing up after I connected it."
After you complete the connection process on a social platform, you are redirected back to Social Cascade. If your profile doesn't appear in the Social Profiles section:
- Refresh the page: A simple refresh can often fix this.
- Refresh inside the app: In the Social Profiles panel, look for a "Missing social profiles? Refresh" link in the footer and click it. This action prompts the system to re-check your connection.
2. "I'm getting a permission error."
During the connection process, the social platform asks you to grant Social Cascade certain permissions (e.g., to manage your pages, post on your behalf). If you deny any of these, the connection will fail.
- Check your permissions: Navigate to your settings on the social media platform itself and remove Social Cascade from the list of approved apps. Then, go back to Social Cascade and try to connect the profile again, making sure to grant all requested permissions.
3. "The login window keeps closing."
This can sometimes be caused by a browser issue.
- Clear your cache and cookies: This is a good first step to clear out any old data that might be causing a conflict.
- Try a different browser or a private/incognito window: This can help you determine if the issue is specific to your browser's settings or extensions.
4. "The connection failed."
There are many reasons for this, but a common one is a permissions issue on the social platform.
- Check your admin role: Ensure you have the necessary administrative role for the social page or profile you are trying to connect. For example, on Facebook, you must be an Admin of the page, not just an editor or a moderator.
TikTok-Specific Issues
5. "TikTok is not showing as a platform option."
TikTok may not yet be enabled for your organization. Contact support to verify that TikTok is available for your account.
6. "My TikTok account won't connect."
TikTok requires a Business Account for third-party publishing. Personal accounts and Creator accounts cannot be connected to Social Cascade.
- Switch to a Business Account: Open the TikTok app > Profile > Menu > Settings and privacy > Account > Switch to Business Account. See Setting Up a TikTok Business Account for full instructions.
- Re-authorize: After switching, go back to Social Cascade and connect your TikTok account again.
7. "My TikTok connection expired."
TikTok authorization tokens can expire over time. If your TikTok posts start failing or your profile shows as disconnected:
- Reconnect your TikTok account in Account Settings > Social Profiles > + Add Profile > TikTok.
- Grant all permissions when prompted by TikTok.
