Reconnecting or Relinking Your Unlinked Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok Account

If your Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok account has become unlinked from Social Cascade, it's typically due to a security event or a change in permissions on the social media platform. This guide will walk you through the steps to re-authorize the connection and get your account back online.

Why Accounts Become Unlinked

There are several reasons why a social profile might become unlinked:

  • Password Changes: If you've recently changed your Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok password, you'll need to re-authorize the connection.
  • Permissions Updates: Social platforms periodically update their security settings, which can sometimes require you to re-approve permissions for connected apps like Social Cascade.
  • Security Events: If the platform detects any unusual activity on your account, they may automatically unlink connected apps as a security precaution.
  • Token Expiration: TikTok authorization tokens can expire over time, requiring you to reconnect.

How to Reconnect Your Account

The reconnection process is the same for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

1. Navigate to Your Profiles:

  • Log in to your Social Cascade account.
  • Click on the Settings menu and select Profiles.

2. Add a New Profile:

  • On the Profiles page, click the + Add Profile button.
  • Select the social network you want to reconnect (Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok).

3. Grant Permissions:

  • You'll be redirected to the platform (Facebook for Facebook/Instagram, or TikTok for TikTok) to approve the connection. It's crucial that you grant all requested permissions. If you don't approve all permissions, posting and analytics may not work correctly.
  • Once you've granted permissions, you'll be redirected back to Social Cascade.

4. Select Your Page or Profile:

  • You'll see a list of the Facebook Pages, Instagram Business profiles, or TikTok Business accounts associated with your login. Select the one you want to reconnect and click Add.
  • Your profile will now appear in your list of connected accounts and you can resume scheduling posts.

Platform-Specific Notes

Facebook and Instagram

  • Both platforms use the same Meta authorization flow. You will be redirected to Facebook even when reconnecting Instagram.
  • Ensure you are an Admin of the Facebook Page or Instagram Business account.

TikTok

  • You must have a TikTok Business Account — Personal and Creator accounts cannot be connected.
  • TikTok authorization redirects to TikTok (not Facebook/Meta).
  • After reconnecting, TikTok posts will resume working. Note that TikTok posts are manually scheduled only.

Troubleshooting

If you're still having trouble, here are a few things to try:

  • Admin Access: Make sure you're an Admin of the Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, or TikTok Business Account you're trying to connect.
  • Refresh the Page: A simple refresh of the page can sometimes resolve the issue.
  • Clear Your Cache: Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try connecting in a private or incognito window.
  • Re-Add the Profile: If your profile is still showing as connected in Social Cascade, but it's not working, you may need to remove it and then add it back again.
