Viewing YouTube Channel Stats and Shorts Analytics

Overview

Once your YouTube channel is connected to Social Cascade, your channel stats appear on the team Overview Dashboard alongside Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and per-Short performance is captured for any YouTube Shorts you publish through Social Cascade. This article explains where to find each surface and what to expect.

Before You Start

  • YouTube must be connected in Team Settings. See Connecting Your YouTube Channel to Social Cascade.
  • Stats are pulled from YouTube on a regular schedule — newly connected channels and freshly published Shorts may take some time to populate.
  • You're a member of a team that has at least one connected YouTube channel.

Channel Stats on the Overview Dashboard

Open the Overview page from the left sidebar. Under Your Social Profiles you'll see a card for each connected platform — including YouTube once it's linked. The YouTube card surfaces the channel-level stats YouTube exposes through its API:

  • Subscribers on the channel.
  • Total channel views.
  • Posts tracked by Social Cascade for the connected channel.

The numbers refresh as Social Cascade re-pulls account stats from YouTube. If a number looks stale, give it some time to catch up — we don't poll YouTube continuously.

Per-Short Performance

For Shorts published through Social Cascade, we record performance metrics returned by YouTube — typically views, likes, and comment counts. These are used to:

  • Show post-level engagement on calendar / list views in the web app where supported.
  • Roll up into team analytics so you can compare YouTube performance against Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Like other platforms, metrics need time to settle. Don't be alarmed if a Short shows zero views immediately after publishing.

How YouTube Stats Differ From Other Platforms

Platform Headline metric on the dashboard
Facebook / Instagram Followers + post count
TikTok Views (TikTok doesn't expose follower counts via API)
YouTube Subscribers + total views + post count

Because each platform reports different fields through its API, what's shown isn't identical across cards. We surface the most meaningful number each platform makes available.

Troubleshooting

Issue What to try
YouTube card is missing on the dashboard Confirm YouTube is connected in Team Settings. Then refresh the Overview page. Newly connected channels can take some time to populate stats.
Subscriber or view count looks off YouTube updates aggregate channel stats on its own schedule. Compare against your YouTube Studio dashboard — that's the source of truth.
Recent Shorts show zero views Engagement takes time to register on YouTube and even longer to be returned to third-party tools. Give it a few hours and recheck.
Shorts published outside Social Cascade aren't tracked Expected — we only track Shorts that flow through Social Cascade publishing. Native uploads in YouTube Studio aren't counted as Social Cascade posts.

FAQ

Q: How often does Social Cascade refresh YouTube stats?

A: Channel stats and per-Short metrics refresh on a regular schedule, not in real time. Treat YouTube Studio as the live source of truth and Social Cascade as a consolidated view across platforms.

Q: Can I see watch time or audience retention?

A: Not today — Social Cascade surfaces the metrics most useful for cross-platform comparison (subscribers, views, posts, plus per-Short engagement). For deep audience analytics, use YouTube Studio > Analytics.

Q: Why don't my YouTube videos uploaded directly via YouTube show up?

A: We track Shorts published through Social Cascade. Channel-level stats (subscribers, total views) are channel-wide and include native uploads, but per-post metrics only cover Social Cascade-published Shorts.
