Recording from Your Browser (Web Teleprompter)

Overview

Web Teleprompter lets you record short-form videos directly from your desktop or laptop browser — no mobile app required. Your script scrolls on-screen while your webcam records, and you can add captions, logos, and post to your connected social accounts, all from the Social Cascade web app.

Web Teleprompter is available on Pro and Premier plans. Teams on the Base plan can manage scripts but must use the mobile app to record.

Before You Start

  • Use a desktop or laptop computer with a webcam and microphone. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox are recommended.
  • Your browser will ask for camera and microphone permissions the first time you record. You must allow both.
  • Connect at least one social account (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube) in Account Settings > Social Profiles before you can publish.

How to Open the Web Teleprompter

  1. Sign in at app.socialcascade.co.
  2. Click Teleprompter in the left sidebar. This opens your script library.
  3. If you don’t see Teleprompter in the sidebar, confirm your team is on a Pro or Premier plan.

Managing Scripts

Your script library is shared between the web app and mobile app. Any script created on one platform appears on the other.

Create a Script Manually

  1. Click the + button at the top of the scripts list.
  2. Enter a title and your script text.
  3. Click Save.

Generate a Script with AI

  1. Click the sparkle (☆) button at the top of the scripts list.
  2. Describe the topic you want to cover.
  3. Review the generated script. You can refine it by asking for changes.
  4. Once you’re happy with the result, save it to your library.

Edit or Delete a Script

  1. Select a script from the list to open its detail panel.
  2. Click Edit to modify the title or content.
  3. Click Delete to remove the script and all its recordings.

Recording a Video

  1. Select a script and click Record.
  2. The first time, you’ll see a consent screen. Review and accept to grant camera and microphone access.
  3. Your webcam feed appears full-screen with the script text overlaid at the bottom.
  4. Practice mode: Click Practice to scroll the script without recording. Click Stop to end practice. A “PRACTICING” indicator appears while practicing.
  5. Record: Click the red Record button. A short countdown starts, then recording begins.
  6. Click Stop when finished. Recordings automatically stop at 3 minutes to stay within short-form platform limits.
  7. After recording, you can review your take, re-record, or continue to post setup.

Teleprompter Settings

Click the gear icon during recording to adjust:

  • Scroll Speed — how fast the script scrolls. Preset buttons (Slow, Medium, Fast) are available.
  • Font Size — make the script text larger or smaller.
  • Overlay Opacity — controls how transparent the script overlay is over the camera feed.
  • Start Delay — seconds the script waits before scrolling after you press Record.

Click Reset to defaults to restore the original settings.

Setting Up Your Post

After recording, you’ll be taken to the Post Setup screen.

  1. Caption: Enter or edit the caption for your social post. A suggested caption from your script may be pre-filled.
  2. Hashtags: Add relevant hashtags. Type a hashtag and press Enter to add it.
  3. Social accounts: Select which connected platforms to post to (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).

Captions and Logo

  1. Toggle Add captions & logo on to burn time-synced captions into the video.
  2. Choose a Caption Style from categories like Trending, Bold, Minimal, and Creative.
  3. Optionally enable Include Logo to add your team’s logo to the video. Choose a logo position (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right).
  4. You can override caption colors to match your brand.

When captions are enabled, processing takes longer because the video is transcribed and rendered with caption overlays. See Troubleshooting Video Quality and Captions for tips.

Publishing Options

  • Post Now — publishes immediately to the selected platforms.
  • Schedule — pick a future date and time for the post.
  • Save to My Stream — saves the video to your team’s content library without publishing.

Managing Recordings

Click Recordings (video icon) from the scripts page to view all your past recordings.

  • Preview recordings by clicking the play button on any thumbnail.
  • Edit: Update the caption, hashtags, or caption style on a recording before publishing.
  • Delete: Remove recordings you no longer need.
  • Retry: If video processing failed, a Retry button appears to resubmit for processing.

Recording statuses include: Draft (not yet submitted), Processing (being transcribed and rendered), Completed (ready to view), Scheduled (queued for posting), Posted (published), and Failed (processing error).

FAQ

Q: Is the web teleprompter different from the mobile app?

A: Both share the same script library and produce the same output. The web version uses your computer’s webcam; the mobile app uses your phone’s camera. Scripts and recordings sync automatically between both.

Q: Which browsers are supported?

A: Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop are recommended. Safari on macOS works but may have limitations with camera selection. On iOS devices, we recommend the native mobile app instead.

Q: Can I record in landscape?

A: The web teleprompter records in portrait (9:16) to match short-form video requirements on social platforms.

Q: Do I need to install anything?

A: No. The web teleprompter runs entirely in your browser. No plugins or extensions are needed.
