How to Create a Facebook (Meta) Business Portfolio
A Meta Business Portfolio, formerly known as Facebook Business Manager, is a centralized platform designed for businesses, agencies, and marketers to manage all of their Meta-related business assets in one secure place. Think of it as the organizational backbone for a company's presence on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The primary purpose of a Business Portfolio is to keep business activities separate from personal profiles. This separation enhances security, streamlines collaboration, and provides a professional way to manage multiple assets (Facebook Page(s) and Instagram account(s)) and users.
Step 1: Create Your Meta Business Portfolio
- Go to the Meta Business Suite homepage:
business.facebook.com. - Click the blue "Create Account" button.
You will be prompted to log in with your personal Facebook profile. This is only for verification and to make you the administrator; your personal information will not be visible on the business page.
Follow the on-screen prompts. You'll need to enter:
- Your Business/Portfolio Name (e.g., "YourCompany Support Services").
- Your Name.
- Your Business Email Address.
Step 2: Connect Your Facebook Page
- Once your Business Portfolio is created, you'll be taken to the dashboard.
- If you already have a Facebook Page, you will be prompted to connect it. If you don't have one, Meta will guide you to create a new Page. See this page for more details on creating a Facebook Page.
- When creating a new Page, use a clear name like "[Your Practice Name] ".
- For the category, choose something relevant like "Pediatrician," "Dentist", "Primary Care," "Veternarian" or a category related to your practice.
Step 3: Add People (Optional but Recommended)
- In the Meta Business Suite, go to "Settings" (usually a gear icon ⚙️).
- Navigate to "People."
- Click "Add People." You can add team members by email and assign them roles (like Admin or Employee) so they can help manage the page without needing your personal login credentials.
